KIKUJI KAWADA: ‘ENDLESS MAP’

Exhibition at PGI, Tokyo

JANUARY 20 - MARCH 13, 2021

A new interpretation of master Japanese photographer Kikuji Kawada’s series, The Map, this new selection includes never before seen images from his original negatives as well as iconic favorites. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima which this series references, this ever curious eighty-eight year old photographer revisited, scanned and printed images that he made in the early 1960s.

The resulting rich detailed pigment prints appear to glow on the warm textured 16 x 20 inch thick washi paper. This presentation translates into a completely new language from versions of the past. Currently on view at PGI in Tokyo, the prints (in editions of 3) are also available through us in the US.
